Matt Lauer's Wife Files for Divorce

Newser — Arden Dier

It’s splitsville for Matt Lauer and his wife, former Dutch model Annette Roque. Roque filed for divorce in a New York state court on Tuesday, nearly two years after Lauer was fired by NBC following sexual misconduct claims.

The "uncontested" divorce is awaiting judicial review before it is made official. The State Supreme Court in Suffolk County notes the process "could take up to a few months." The couple met on a blind date before marrying in October 1998, reports People.

Roque then filed for divorce in 2006, claiming her husband exhibited "extreme anger and hostility" and committed "cruel and inhumane" acts, per Fox News. The claims were withdrawn just three weeks later.

Lauer denied breakup rumors a decade ago, saying the couple had worked through their issues. "Have we had a completely perfect, easy marriage? No. But the stories you've read over the years are not true," he said at the time.

The pair were seen without their wedding rings in the weeks after Lauer was fired in November 2017, per People. Now, "the matter has been settled," Roque's attorney tells the outlet.

Roque, 52, will reportedly get $20 million in assets, including the couple's horse farm in the Hamptons, Page Six reported last month. The couple will reportedly share custody of their three children, ages 18, 15, and 12.

(Lauer said he acted "inappropriately as a husband.")
