NASCAR at Talladega: Odds, fantasy advice, prediction, sleepers, drivers to watch for 1000Bulbs.com 500

Sporting News — (Thomas Lott)

In the second race of the Round of 12 in NASCAR's playoffs, we get back to restrictor-plate racing at Talladega Superspeedway.

Chase Elliott is in the lead in NASCAR's playoff standings and he very well could take home a win this week. The 22-year-old won the pole at Daytona earlier this season, finished in third at Talladega in this year's first race and is coming off of a win at Dover last week.

However, the good money will be on Ford's Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski who have combined for nine wins in their careers on restrictor-plate tracks. With Logano's win at Talladega earlier this season, Ford drivers have now won 17 of the last 31 restrictor-plate races.

The Big 3 will have a tough time cracking the top of the field this week as Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. have combined to win five races on restrictor-plate tracks across 177 career races. Truex has never won.

Our pick to win this week will be Keselowski, who has won at Talladega three of the last four years and will look to make it four of the last five Sunday.

The 1000Bulbs.com is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET Sunday and can be watched on NBC.

Which NASCAR drivers are best for your fantasy lineup at Talladega?

Austin Dillon took home the second win of his career at Daytona in the first race of the season. He has had some problems at Talladega, but when he doesn't wreck he has finished in the top 15 every time. He has top-10 finishes in each of his last two trips where he hasn't run into trouble on the track.

Aric Almirola has four top 10s in his last four trips to Talladega Superspeedway. He also has a win in his career at Dayton and is on the bubble to advance to NASCAR's Round of 8 in the playoffs.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. made waves when he wrecked half the field at Daytona earlier this year, but that doesn't change the fact he's a good restrictor-plate racer. Both of Stenhouse's two career wins have come at Daytona and Talladega and Stenhouse finished fifth at the latter track earlier this year. He has six top 10s in 10 career races at Talladega.

Kurt Busch has no wins at Talladega but he has five top-10 finishes in his last eight turns at the track and has a win at Daytona, as well. Busch has been near the top of the pack all year long and he could earn his second win this season there.
